Yongin--(뉴스와이어)--On July 20th, 2022, SurplusGLOBAL, a pre-owned semiconductor equipment platform company that recorded $160 million in sales last year, announced its first shipment of the R&D Foundry's PE-TEOS wafer manufactured by the 300mm PECVD equipment in SurplusGLOBAL 100~1,000 class clean room.

“We have been preparing for R&D Foundry's new business for the past two years, and we just shipped our first 300mm wafer,” said Albert Choi CBO and Head of R&D Foundry at SurplusGLOBAL. “The 300mm PE TEOS wafer produced at this time is a test wafer for CMP material and equipment performance evaluation. It has the advantage of ensuring productivity and quality by making and measuring the equipment used in the semiconductor mass production process. From now on, we plan to produce thermal oxide test wafers on our production line and expand the supply range. Therefore, on time, we can provide more diverse and high-quality test wafers for domestic semiconductor laboratories in cooperation with overseas companies.” In addition, “We expect to provide fast and accurate upfront performance evaluation results at low cost to semiconductor-related companies with electrical characteristics analysis service with wafers in a thin film state without a pattern,” he added.

Meanwhile, SurplusGLOBAL established a Semiconductor Equipment Cluster in July 2021 to share a semiconductor-related workforce, equipment, and facilities. SurplusGLOBAL besides installed a clean room of 634m2 to provide the R&D Foundry service within the cluster, and it started operation in July 2022.

“This is the first step in the R&D Foundry business, which can provide a mass-production R&D one-stop solution from providing quality-verified test wafers to pattern-free electrical characteristic analysis services,” said Bruce Kim, CEO of SurplusGLOBAL. He also mentioned, “We will become a company essential to the global semiconductor R&D ecosystem by producing various test wafers using used semiconductor equipment and evaluating the performance of equipment and materials through electrical analysis.”

SurplusGLOBAL semiconductor equipment cluster was completed in July of last year and is expected to host world-class semiconductor companies.

One-stop Platform for Pre-owned Equipment

SurplusGLOBAL is one of the world's largest one-stop platforms for pre-owned semiconductor equipment that has led the market with rich marketing experience since 2000.
